For New York Fashion Week, Hilfiger had his Spring ‘25 show on Sunday September 8th, 2024 aboard the decommissioned MV John F. Kennedy ferry, previously used to travel between Manhattan and Staten Island. The designer wanted to go in the direction of doing something iconic and reminiscent of the Marine lifestyle through the silhouettes while still using the brand’s classic red, white, and blue color palette.

Paying homage to the well known look, the designer and creative director, Tommy Hilfiger himself stated, “We’re revisiting the nautical and maritime inspirations that have define our signature look since 1985.” From celebrities and the street style of 90’s hip hop music scene, many would that 90’s made Tommy Hilfiger as relevant as it is today. Hilfiger during its peak at this time designed knitted sweaters, classic windbreakers and baggy denim overalls with the Tommy Hilfiger logo on the front which can seen worn by Snoop Dogg, Wu-Tang Clan, and Questlove.

As of recently, the designer has working on incorporating new playful twists in his newer collections as he keeps up with the innovations of the fashion world today while also maintaining that classic Tommy look and remembering its roots. The designer said, “ Today it’s updated and remixed for 2025: the look has the ease of effortless summer style, but with a confidence that feels ready to step off the ferry and back into the city.”

For its maritime inspiration, the brand went with a White Regatta Jacket, and a Tommy Hilfiger lining for the inner upturned collar, worn with a red horizontal ivory knit sweater, paired with a pair of crinkled navy blue yacht shorts to maintain a fashionable youthful look.

Throughout the collection, the brand uses plain white with the Hilfiger logo or Breton and Ithaca shirting stripes for the slightly oversized short-sleeve button downs. These garments can be seen paired with chinos in navy blue, tan, or white. In some of his other looks, he includes sporty blazers rugby polos, and deconstructed trench coats. The looks are finished off with a neck-tie bandanas, hand-woven coastal slippers, and a new chunky rope TH Monogram on raffia baseball caps.

We shall climb aboard as Tommy Hilfiger continues to take us across the state to the NYC landmarks with a clean neat twist ingenious American Sporty Prep look.
